The Alison Margaret Jazz Quartet features innovative arrangements of American jazz and folk classics as well as lesser-known tunes from the jazz repertoire. Ms. Margaret's arranging style is steeped in tradition, yet infused with modern harmony, rhythm, and improvisational creativity. The Quartet's seamless musical interaction and playfulness is paired with a technical prowess that leaves the listener musically satisfied and eager to hear more!

Ms. Margaret moved to Chicago in the fall of 1997 to begin her undergraduate degree in Vocal Jazz Performance at Columbia College - Chicago. While at Columbia, Ms. Margaret studied and performed with artists such as Orbert Davis, the late, great William Russo, Frank Dawson and Frank Parker Jr.

Shortly after graduating from Columbia College in 2002, Ms. Margaret was introduced to renowned pianist and composer, Laurence Hobgood. Hobgood and Ms. Margaret began collaborating on her debut CD "Come Sunday" in November, 2004. "Come Sunday" was recorded on Ms. Margaret's independent record label, Violet Records LLC, (founded in January, 2005).

Currently residing in Madison, WI, Ms. Margaret leads the "Alison Margaret Jazz Quartet" featuring vibraphonist Geoff Brady, upright bassist John Christensen, and drummer Michael Brenneis. Ms. Margaret has begun creating her next album that will highlight American folk standards as well as jazz classics. .

Paralleling a jazz career is her training as a classical pianist. She currently attends the University of Wisconsin - Madison as a graduate student in Collaborative Piano Performance. You can find her performing every-other-Tuesday at Restaurant Magnus in Madison from 7:00pm-9:00pm.
